All SuharekaOnline journalists know to inform an editor, senior production editor or department head of all serious errors or potential errors.
Copy corrections
When we make a mistake, we correct our copy – both on our wires and our digital services – as soon as possible and make every effort to ensure customers see and act upon notifications of any serious errors.
We do this in a number of ways:
- The corrected copy on our wire services will carry an advisory note marked “corrected repetition” at the top, along with details of what was corrected, why, and when it was originally transmitted.
- If the error was serious or substantial, or has any potential legal implications, we will also send details of the correction in a separate advisory on the wire. This can be repeated several times over the next few hours, depending on the severity of the error.
- Along with the advisory on the wire, we will also contact all customers by email with details of the correction, asking them to correct or take down the copy in question, regardless of when it was first published.
- If the error was serious or substantial, or has any potential legal implications, we will carry out online searches for any instances of the error which have not been corrected by individual customers and send chaser emails asking those customers to make the relevant change.
We do not hide corrections in new leads or updated versions of the original copy. All corrections will be clearly labelled as such and customers will be informed.
Image corrections
For corrections on images and their captions, we take the same approach, with any errors being corrected as soon as possible and customers being informed.
For picture kills, the original image will run on the wire with a large red border to clearly show which image is being removed. All our services will be checked for use of the image, with any instances being removed and clearly corrected as above. Customers will also be informed by email as above.
Video corrections
For corrections on videos, the video will be removed as soon as possible and customers will be informed by email of what is being corrected and why.
A new video will then be resent to customers on our video wire.
Anyone with a complaint or potential correction can contact the SuharekaOnline newsdesk by email on info@suahrekaonline.com or through phone number +383 (0) 48 120100.
